User Group Summit 2019 News: Western Computer Sessions

At Western Computer, we believe user education is the best way to help businesses get maximum value from their technology investments. We’ve got several exciting workshops planned for User Group Summit 2019 and invite you to join our experts for one-hour sessions on a variety of helpful topics.

We’ll be sharing our expertise with NAVUG and AXUG attendees in 6 value-based sessions hosted by Western Computer solution Program Managers, Architects and Presenters—Tammy Radecke, Jeremy DeVries, Arush Kuthiala, and Oleksiy Khoroshylov. They will help you with everything from data management to manufacturing costing.

Our workshop topics are designed to help users solve common problems, get a big-picture idea of relevant processes, and discover new functionality key to helping your business succeed. Business Central/NAVUG Workshops:

EXT61 - Hands on Lab: Building Your First PowerApp with BC/NAV
Wednesday, October 16
12:45 PM – 1:45 PM

Want to learn how Microsoft PowerApps work and how can it benefit your business? Is building an app really as easy as they say? If you’ve never built an app, come see a real-life demo of how any power user can build a business app for Business Central or NAV. We’ll build a completely integrated app for counting fixed assets in this 1-hour lab.

MFG58 - Manufacturing 301: A Deep Dive with Costing
Thursday, October 17
9:30 AM – 10:30 AM

In this workshop, we’ll walk through a production run and demonstrate impacts to inventory costing. Variables analyzed will include material cost, capacity costs, overhead costs, and more. Then we’ll show how these roll up into the finished inventory. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and share ideas about your own costing quandaries.

ADM42 - Time to Retire to Florida? What You Should Do Now with Business Central Going to the Cloud
Friday, October 18
9:45 AM – 10:45 AM

IT Managers/Directors – how will moving to the cloud affect your job? We’ll discuss ways shifting to the cloud can actually add to your job responsibilities, and specific possibilities for hosting NAV/BC for your business.


Finance & Operations/AXUG Workshops:

FIN01 - Inventory Costing: Setup and Breakdown
Wednesday, October 16
4:30 PM – 5:30 PM

We’ll show 7 different costing methods for inventory in Dynamics 365, demonstrate basic procedures, talk about industry-specific common practices, and discuss advantages of each method.  The demo will use Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, but the functionality is very similar in AX 2012.

IMP01 - Data Management: How to Move Data In and Out as a Functional Resource
Friday, October 18
1:15 PM – 2:15 PM

This workshop will be helpful to those considering upgrading to Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations. The data management workspace in D365FO has been completely redesigned from AX! Learn how to use this tool to import and export data, and how to use templates, LCS packages, legal entity copying and truncate functionality.

SC03 - Supercharge your Processes using Case Management
Thursday, October 17
10:45 AM – 11:45 AM

This will be an in-depth look into case management topics such as surfacing accountability and providing visibility of key business processes, as well as using alerts to create task reminders.
